The Living Mind by Jeff Presslaff

The Living Mind was composed in two parts, both using a pitch system based on the pentatonic scale, a set of intervals humans have been using to make music for at least 35,000 years. The intensity of Part One releases into the simplicity of Part Two when the solo piano begins, which came from a dream the composer had. The title comes from an essay by Ted Dace in which he states, "The truth exists solely in the context of a living mind..."
